From Flab to Fab in Fifty-Two Weeks….The Diary of a Runner.

Okay, so that’s the sexy description. In reality, I’m a 34 year-old, woman who went from high school basketball player to 278 lb stressed out consultant. Last year I took back my work life. This year, I’m taking back my health. I’ve dubbed the next 52 weeks: OBSOML: Operation Best Shape of My Life.

Blogging helped me organize and realize other dreams, so this blog is my focus and dedication to health and fitness. I will keep logs of my workouts, things I am learning along the way and check in on and cheer on other people with similar goals. I lost alot of weight once before, but did it the wrong way…slimfast shakes, etc. they didn’t teach me how to eat for life. Now I’m taking on the biggest challenge of my life so far and I’m confident that I will win. Here’s the story of my journey.

1. Overall general fitness. I want energy to LIVE and PLAY.

2. Weight goal is between 150-170 lbs. I’m 5’6 and prone to be on the heavier side and would like the 170lb me just fine with muscle. I’m not dying to be a “skinny minnie”.

3. Active in sports and healthy lifestyle activities. I want to go on vacation and travel and actually DO more. Swim, play beach volleyball, hike, bike and have energy to PLAY.

4. Look GREAT in my clothes. I love business clothes (when I’m fit) and have an affinity for Thomas Pink french cuff women’s shirts and cufflinks. This will be my treat to myself when I attain my goal.

5. Master a Martial Art. I’ve always wanted to learn and master a martial art, something I can do for LIFE.

6. Participate and complete several 5k, 10k and 1/2 marathon events.

7. Learn how to swim.

8. Try cycling, skiing, snowboarding and other sports.

9. Have WAY more sex. I mean ALOT of sex. (mom and dad avert your eyes!)

10. Inspire others, especially other African Americans/Women to get fit and put ourselves FIRST!
